Founded in 1629 and consisting of parts of modern day Estonia and Latvia, Swedish Livonia was part of the Swedish Baltic Empire with the city of Riga as its capital. Conquered by The Russian Empire during The Great Northern War, Swedish Livonia was eventually ceded to Russia in 1721. Their coins were made of a silver alloy called billon.
